Rep. Miller Announces 2008 U.S. Service Academies Appointees
WASHINGTON, D.C. – 5/22/08 – Rep. George Miller (D-Martinez) today announced the names of two appointees to the U.S. service academies from the seventh Congressional district.
“These young people deserve great credit for their academic, athletic, and extracurricular achievements,” said Miller. “I am proud to be able to nominate them to the U.S. service academies, and I know that their greatest achievements are ahead of them.”
Miller’s Academy 2008 appointees are:
US AIR FORCE ACADEMY:
Zachary Tyler Helton, Vacaville resident, attends Vanden High School
US MILITARY ACADEMY AT WEST POINT:
Justin Cole Hunter, Concord resident, attends Concord High School
Each year, Members of Congress nominate outstanding high school students to the U.S. Military, Naval, Air Force and Merchant Marine Academies. The academies make the final decision on which students they accept from a national pool of applicants. Students interested in attending one of the academies should request information and an application packet by writing to Miller’s office at 3220 Blume Drive, Suite 281, Richmond, CA, 94806, or by calling (510) 262-6500. The seventh Congressional district includes parts of Contra Costa and Solano counties.
