MILLER ANNOUNCES HOUSE SUPPORT FOR LOCAL TRANSPORTATION AND VETERANS PROJECTS
"I am pleased the House has lent its support to these important transportation projects in Solano County," said Miller. "Transportation remains one of our biggest challenges and this congressional support will make an important difference."
Three programs in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies appropriations bill for FY 2008 total $1.45 million. The projects are described below.
- Ferry Maintenance Facility, Vallejo CA $1 Million to build out a new maintenance and fueling facility for Vallejoís highly successful high speed ferries used between San Francisco and Vallejo. Miller has been one of the key supporters of Vallejoís ferry service since its inception.
- Benicia Veterans Hall Improvements $250,000 to help rehabilitate a publicly owned building used by veterans for meetings and recreation. Planned improvements include interior and exterior; mechanical, electrical and line safety upgrades.
- Fairfield Vacaville Inter-modal Facility $200,000 to help improve rider-ship throughout the entire Bay Area region by improving the inter-modal facility serving Fairfield and Vacaville. This facility will reduce freeway congestion by allowing employees traveling to Travis Air Force Base and other major employment centers in Fairfield and Vacaville to use Capitol Corridor train service which will stop at the inter-modal facility. This facility will also provide safe pedestrian, bus and bicycle access to all Capitol Corridor trains
