Small businesses create over 60% of all new jobs and are the backbone of our local economy. George supports giving small businesses the tools they need to start up, grow and thrive.
George supports making it easier for small businesses to get access to capital. He supported the Small Business Jobs Act, which expanded access to Small Business Administration loans by increasing loan guarantees, provided tax incentives for investors to invest in small businesses, and created a State Small Business Credit Initiative to make it easier for states to support small business lending.
He has also pushed to make it easier for small businesses to register when they are making initial public offerings by allowing more small businesses to use streamlined registration procedures that are simpler than the standard SEC requirements. President Obama recently backed this proposal under his American Jobs Act
George is also working to increase access for small businesses in the Bay Area to programs operated by the Commerce Department and the Export-Import Bank that are designed to increase Americans’ access to foreign markets.
