Campaign Finance Reform Law

Reform Now; Money in Politics

Following Connecticut’s lead, Florida just passed a new and very progressive campaign finance reform law. I have long advocated cleaning up money in politics, and while Congress has passed some reforms, states are leading the way with even stronger changes. Although no law is perfect, as evidenced by the criticism received in both Connecticut and Florida, the recent campaign finance legislations are imperative for generating national awareness and ultimately reform. Public financing of campaigns, limiting contributions and banning gifts from lobbyists and state contractors are great steps toward restoring our democracy. The links below provide more information about the new laws.
