What a difference a year makes: Energy edition
This week, House will vote on a major accomplishment: a compromise energy bill that will help to lower energy costs, to create new jobs, and to combat global warming. Congressman Miller has been fighting for a bill like this for decades. Among the many important provisions of this legislation is the increase in automotive fuel efficiency to 35 miles per gallon by 2020 -- this will be the first time that Congress has increased cars' fuel efficiency since 1975. The bill is a long overdue improvement on previous years of failed congressional energy legislation, and it will be supported on a bipartisan basis.
See some of Miller's work on climate change from 1998, 2001, and 2001 (again); on fuel efficiency from 2001; and on the Republican energy bill of 2005.
